Unbound Merino is water resistant, NOT waterproof.

Basically, this means it will wick moisture away from the body and not absorb water into the fabric itself. It will dry quickly and you won't feel damp if you perspire.

However, it does not repel water if you go surfing wearing Unbound Merino. We don't go surfing wearing Unbound Merino. You probably shouldn't either.
